Our organization
Black Pride Ypsi is a community driven and based philanthropic organization with the mission to improve the lives of Black queer residents in Ypsilanti and beyond.
Our Purpose
In 2024, an Ypsilanti resident noticed that there was not an easily accessible Black queer community in their hometown. Observing the rising gentrification, they worked to establish Black Pride Ypsi with the hope of creating a permanent and easily accessible hub for Black queer residents.
Our Core Values
Organizing Community
Our goal is to create and maintain easily accessible spaces and opportunities to uplift and empower the Black queer community of Ypsilanti and beyond. We will listen to our community, hold ourselves accountable, and serve our community.
Creating Opportunities for Equity
We will work to understand and change causes of inequity. We will engage in difficult conversations, take stands, and create opportunities for a more equitable future.
Expanding Community Knowledge
We will work to generate, share, and expand the knowledge of our community and our community members.
